Eagles Improve to 4-1 with Win

EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest is 4-1 to start the season for the first time since 2013-14 after a 71-49 win over Pacific Union in the Beacon Classic on Saturday.
 
The Eagles will attempt their first 5-1 start Tuesday at home against Evergreen State.
 
Sixteen Eagles played in the game Saturday and all had a rebound, an assist, or scored. The Eagles got 31 points from its bench.
 
“Good win tonight,” said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. “It’s sometimes difficult to play teams like Pacific Union, but I thought we made good adjustments and got good playing time for everyone.”
 
The Eagles scored the game’s first 15 points, with Livi Lindsey getting six in that opening salvo.
 
NU led 19-9 at the end of the quarter and 34-22 at the half. The Eagles’ lead peaked at 31 points twice in the fourth quarter.
 
Lindsey led the Eagles with 13 points and shared the steals lead with Grace Meza with four and the assists lead with Meza and Ellesse FitzGerald with three. Sam VanLoo scored 12 points on six-of-seven shooting, and Maria Arroyo Sanchez added 10 points.
 
The NU defense forced 20 turnovers and limited the Pioneers to 33 percent shooting from the field.
