CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2021 Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball season tips off today, beginning a 22-match schedule to determine who will win the regular-season crown and the first of the CCC’s two automatic qualifiers (AQ). The top eight teams in the final standings will also advance to the CCC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament presented by U.S. Bank, with the other AQ on the line.
Bushnell University was picked to take the crown for the third year in a row, but two other teams enter the conference slate with an unblemished record on the line. Lewis-Clark State College and Oregon Tech are both receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll after both opened the year undefeated.
College of Idaho (5-1) vs. Eastern Oregon University (2-4)
College of Idaho hosts Eastern Oregon University and looks to shake off its first loss of the year. The Coyotes opened the year with five wins but dropped a close 58-54 battle to Montana Western. EOU heads into conference with a 2-4 mark, looking to snap a four-game losing streak.
Multnomah University (0-6) vs. Warner Pacific University (1-2)
Warner Pacific University heads down the road to Multnomah University. The Knights come off a 68-59 win over Lewis & Clark College after opening the year with two losses. The Lions are hoping to snap a six-game losing streak after dropping three games in Hawaii to NCAA Division II foe.
Northwest University (4-1) vs. The Evergreen State College (0-2)
Northwest University comes off a 2-0 showing at the Corban Classic, outscoring its opponents by an average 18-point margin. The Evergreen State College is looking for its first win of the season after dropping two games at the NU Classic earlier this season.
Corban University (1-5) vs. Bushnell University (2-3)
Corban University opens the conference slate looking to snap a four-game losing streak. Bushnell University, which was picked to win the CCC, had a rough start to the season, dropping three games to open the year, two of which were against top-10 ranked teams.
Southern Oregon University (4-1) vs. Oregon Tech (5-0)
Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech have gone 21 months since last matching up after SOU opted out of the 2021 Spring season. SOU comes off a pair of wins while OIT is coasting a five-game unbeaten streak to start the season.
Walla Walla University (0-3) vs. Lewis-Clark State College (3-0)
Walla Walla University hosts Lewis-Clark State College and looks to snap a three-game losing streak. On the other hand, the Warriors come into the contest looking to build on a three-game winning streak, including a triple-overtime victory over Montana Tech.
