Three teams enter the race ranked in the latest NAIA Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Poll, with another two receiving votes.
No. 6-ranked College of Idaho is the favorite to win the crown after claiming its third-straight and seventh overall CCC title last year. The Coyotes were picked to win the crown in the CCC preseason poll and so far, have won two events and took second in two others.
No. 13-ranked Southern Oregon University – which opted out of the 2020 season – picked right up where it left off and has two wins and another third-place finish under its belt in 2021. The Raiders were picked to take fourth in the preseason poll and look to defy that prediction to win their first CCC championship.
No. 25-ranked Northwest University has three top-three finishes this year, including winning the Chambers Bay Collegiate Open last month. The Eagles look to overcome a fifth-place prediction from the preseason poll and vie for their sixth CCC title.
Lewis-Clark State College and Oregon Tech – both of which are receiving votes in the NAIA Poll – also look to be contenders for the title, along with Eastern Oregon University, Bushnell University, Corban University, Multnomah University, and Walla Walla University.
