WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following four CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during the period Nov. 29-Dec. 5, 2021.

Women’s Basketball – Player
(RV) Southern Oregon University’s Kami Walk was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Walk, a sophomore forward from Eugene, Ore., had back-to-back double-doubles in SOU's sixth and seventh straight wins, giving her five on the season. She finished the weekend averaging 16.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game and currently ranks third in both scoring (17.9) and rebounding (9.3) on the CCC leaderboard.

Men’s Basketball – Player
Multnomah University’s Terin Johnson was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Johnson, a freshman center from Dallas, was an essential piece of the puzzle in Multnomah earning two big wins this past weekend. He averaged 18.0 points per game on 70.6 shooting, 7.5 rebounds per game, and picked up a couple of blocks. Although the games overall were high in the foul category, Johnson stood his ground as the five-man and was able to defend the paint well without getting in foul trouble.

Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Eastern Oregon University’s Olivia Robinson was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.

Robinson, a sophomore from Hillsboro, Ore., wrestled between two different weight classes (170 and 191) and still went undefeated. She went 7-0 overall, with one win coming via forfeit, and was 6-0 in head-to-head bouts. Robinson secured four tech falls, a pin, and a decision, giving up just three points over the two-day span. Three of her tech falls came in shutout fashion as she helped EOU go 4-3 over the weekend at the Patriot Duals.

Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Menlo College’s Rysan Leong was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.

Leong, a sophomore 165-pound wrestler from Kailua, Hawaii, helped the Oaks pick up a win over Vanguard University in dual action. The unranked grappler battled top-ranked Ricky Padilla in arguably the bout of the season. Neither wrestler could score a takedown in regular or extra time, bringing the decision down to riding time, which Leong had to earn the 3-2 decision.
