Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following 15 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week for their performances during the period Feb. 8-14, 2021.
 
Women’s Basketball - Player
Lewis-Clark State College’s Abbie Johnson was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Johnson, a six-foot-two senior forward from Cashmere, Wash., posted a career-high 26 points in game one of the series against NCAA DII MSU-Billings after playing nearly every minute. She tied for the team-lead in rebounds with eight, and also had four steals. She drained 13 free throws in a 13-for-18 performance at the line. She played almost 41 minutes of the overtime contest the next night and dropped 22 points. Johnson made a career-high 10 field goals and filled up the stat sheet with four boards, two assists, two steals and a block.
 
Men’s Basketball - Player
College of Idaho’s Jake O’Neil was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
O’Neil, a six-foot-three freshman guard from Fruitland, Idaho, had a monster weekend, recording a pair of double-doubles, including a career-high 29 points in Saturday’s win. He has now recorded four double-doubles in his last five games after he made 21-of-33 field goals over the weekend. O’Neil also added nine assists.
 
Baseball - Pitcher
Lewis-Clark State College’s Tallon Thomason was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Thomason, a five-foot-nine senior pitcher from Las Vegas, gave a solid performance from the bullpen to help secure the Warriors' extra-inning victory over No. 19 Benedictine Mesa. He threw the final four innings and struck out five to earn his second win of the season. Thomason did not allow an earned run in the contest.
 
Baseball - Player
College of Idaho’s Anthony Pannullo was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Pannullo, a six-foot-three junior first baseman from Henderson, Nev., had a career-high five RBI in the Game 1 win, finishing the doubleheader going 4-for-7 with two doubles and six RBI. He finished the weekend with a .571 batting average and slugged 0.857.
 
Softball - Pitcher
No. 1-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Gabby Sandoval was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.
 
Sandoval, a five-foot-three senior pitcher from Anaheim, Calif., broke into the top-10 on the NAIA's all-time pitcher wins list by throwing her 30th career shutout, a four-hitter Sunday against Simpson. She improved to 94-17 in her career and 4-0 on the season with two more wins, and has now won 17-straight decisions dating back to the 2019 national title game.
 
Softball - Player
Top-ranked SOU’s Allie Stines was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Player of the Week.


Stines, a five-foot-three senior catcher from San Bruno, Calif., had four multi-hit games and four extra-base hits to break SOU’s school record for career doubles by bringing her total to 44. She currently leads the NAIA in doubles (5) and hits (15), having turned in multi-hit performances in seven of eight starts. Stines had a basehit in the go-ahead innings of all three Raider wins, in which she scored five runs.
 
Men’s Wrestling - Wrestler
The University of Providence’s Joel Avila was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Avila, the No. 20-ranked 125-pound junior from Indio, Calif., led the Argos to a victory over Northwest College with a major decision 15-3 victory over Sterling Quinn, before posting a similar 15-3 major decision win over Montana State-Northern’s Kaleb Frank.
 
Men’s Cross Country - Runner
LC State’s Cole Olsen was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Olsen, a senior from Clearwater, Idaho, dominated a frozen course, winning the meet in the snow and helping the Warriors to their second-straight team win. With a temperature near 20-degrees, Olsen did not let snowfall slow him down as beat the second-place finisher by 87 seconds. The time is the second-fastest ever by a senior at LC State.
 
Women’s Cross Country - Runner
Eastern Oregon University’s Michelle Herbes was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Herbes, a junior from Union, Ore., won the women's race of the LCSC Winter Invite. She crossed the frozen finish line in 18:35 to secure her first win of the season.
 
Men’s Indoor Track and Field – Track Athlete
Warner Pacific University’s Jett Pharn-Cromb was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Pharn-Cromb, a freshman from Vancouver, Wash., finished the 60-meter dash at the Sunshine Open in 6.82 seconds for first place. It is the fastest in WPU history and puts him at No. 5 on the NAIA list.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
College of Idaho’s Kylee Atkins was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Atkins, a five-foot-six senior goalkeeper from Boise, Idaho, came up big for the Coyotes between the posts. She had a clean first half in the snow against Division II Northwest Nazarene University with two saves and made four saves in a 3-3 draw vs. Division I Idaho State.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
College of Idaho’s Maddie Smith was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Smith, a five-foot-two freshman forward from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, had a huge game in helping C of I to its first-ever point against an NCAA Division I school. She scored two goals and added an assist in the Yotes’ 3-3 road draw at Idaho State.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
Bushnell University’s Natalie Martin was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Martin, a six-foot-one senior middle blocker from Pleasant Hill, Ore., led the Beacon offense on its opening weekend. She posted 25 kills on the week with a .305 attack percentage. Martin, formerly Natalie Downes, also had five blocks, all solo stuffs, on the week to help Bushnell go 3-0.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
Bushnell University’s Callie Wilkins was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Wilkins, a five-foot-10 junior from Happy Valley, Ore., had a strong debut as Bushnell's libero, averaging 6.3 digs per set as the Beacons opened the season with three wins. She also had two aces from the line and only two receiving errors on 45 attempts for a .956 reception percentage.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
Bushnell University’s Makenna Northern was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
Northern, a five-foot-nine junior setter from Brownsville, Ore., started the season strong, averaging 11.8 assists per set in three victories for Bushnell – the only set the Beacons lost was the one she didn't play. Her two double-doubles put her alone in second place on the school career list. Northern also had two aces and three blocks – all solo – over the weekend.
