CORVALLIS, Ore. – In just one day, five teams begin their quest for the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season championship as conference action gets underway.

The 2021 season marks the first time the CCC has enough baseball teams to vie for its own automatic qualifier (AQ) for the NAIA postseason, retiring the old NAIA West moniker.

Due to COVID-19, provincial regulations and the continued closed border between Canada and the United, UBC was forced to opt-out of conference action in baseball for the 2021 season. It drops the CCC teams down to five, but the AQ is still in play.

College of Idaho begins the campaign at Corban University, while Oregon Tech makes the trek to No. 24-ranked Lewis-Clark State College to open CCC games. Eastern Oregon University has a bye weekend and will start conference play the following weekend at C of I.

LC State was picked as the favorite to win the first CCC championship.

The league will continue with the policy that spectators will not be permitted at any CCC events – with the exception of cross country and golf – until further notice. CCC member schools intend on live streaming the majority of events, with the schedules being found by going to each athletic department’s website.
