SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – 15 months and two days after last taking the pitch, the Bushnell women’s soccer team returned to action on Wednesday night, falling to Simpson University, 2-0 at the Les Schwab Sports Complex. It was the season opener for both schools.

The Beacons were out-shot 10-7 in the contest as Makenna Hadaller collected two saves. Aracely Marks, Amanda Whetten, and Sierra Coloma each took a shot-on-goal.

The Red Hawks got on the board late in the first half as Caroline Forseth collected the rebound off a shot from Paulina Diaz Segovia that had caromed off the left post. Then, in the 69th minute, Emma Nichols fired a free kick from 25 yards and found the upper portion of the net for the insurance strike.

Bushnell is currently scheduled to be back in action on February 12 when they travel to face Multhomah University. The time for that game has yet to be determined. Be sure and check out BushnellBeacons.com for up-to-date schedule information.
