Moyer Leads Dominant Performance By C of I Women's XC

CALDWELL, Idaho – Competing with just six runners on a clear February afternoon, the No. 11 ranked College of Idaho women's cross country team posted their second convincing meet win of the 2020-21 season, dominating the field at the C of I Ice Chipper at Mallard Park.
 
Erin Moyer led a group of five Coyote runners in the Top-6 on the 4-kilometer course, as C of I finished with a near-perfect 18 place points, well clear of Northwest Nazarene (39) and Eastern Oregon (70).
 
Moyer was dominant throughout, taking the lead on the first full 1,500-meter loop, as the senior finished with a time of 14:54.60 to earn her second individual title of the year.
 
Freshman Ellyse Tingelstad was impressive, finishing just five seconds behind Moyer, clocking a time of 14:59.60. Yote runner swept the fourth, fifth and sixth positions – as sophomore Abbey Shirts (15:15.07), junior Larissa Mauer (15:26.09) and senior Chaye Uptmor (15:29.86) helped the C of I scoring quintet post a stellar 35-second gap between first and fifth-place.. C of I's sixth runner, Charlie Duff, placed 15th.(17:01.07).
 
NNU was the lone team to crack the Coyote stronghold at the top of the leaderboard, as Kalen Johnson took third (15:06.40); EOU was led by a ninth-place finish from Michelle Herbes (16:00.80), with Alaska's Sarah Olson taking 20th (18:14.20).
 
The cross country team returns to action in three weeks at the Lewis-Clark State Winter Classic.
