EOU's Lane Wins Pentathlon at C of I Ice Breaker
CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho's Roby Young and Sophi Clay opened up the 2021 indoor track season with quality performances in the pentathlon on Day 1 of the C of I Icebreaker at Caldwell High School.
Day 1 Results
Young narrowly earned the overall win, finishing the five events with a personal-best mark of 2,886 points, with Clay ending the afternoon with 2,640 points.
Both Young and Eastern Oregon's Olivia Lane trailed Warner Pacific's Savannah Proske by nearly 200 points after four events, but a stellar 800-meter performance by Lane (2:31.77) gave her the overall win (2,907), just ahead of the Coyote sophomore.
Young had solid marks of 1.46 meters (4 feet, 9.5 inches) in the high jump and recorded a mark of 4.89 meters (16 feet, 0.5 inches) in the long jump.
Clay also cleared 1.46 meters in the high jump, while recording a time of 10.10 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Proske earned two individual wins – clearing 1.55 meters in the high jump and 5.07 meters in the long jump; Lane won the shot put (9.48 meters) and EOU's Cheyanne Collins won the hurdles (9.84).
Day 2 begins tomorrow at noon with the distance medley relay.
