Under Armour Team of the Week Announced
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Lewis-Clark State women’s basketball team has been selected as the “Under Armour Teams of the Week” for March 8-14 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Hosting an Opening Round in the NAIA tournament the No. 22 Warriors won two games to advance to the final site of the national championship as part of the final 16 programs from around the country.
In the first matchup LC State dismantled William Jessup (Calif.) 73-44. Abbie Johnson, the 2020-21 conference Defensive Player of the Year led the Warriors with 16-points while reigning CCC Player of the Year Kiara Burlage posted a double-double effort with 14-points and 12-rebounds.
In the Championship game LC State would face a familiar team in former conference foe Carroll College (Mont.). The No. 6 ranked Fighting Saints were the top seed in the bracket and had two early season non-conference wins over the Warriors.
Burlage showed why she should be highly touted for All-American honors as she led all scorers in the 76-67 victory with 27-points. As a team LC State LC State shot 44.6 percent from the floor and made 19 free throws (19-for-22).
Lewis-Clark State (14-5, 0-0 CCC) will face the No. 3 Campbellsville (KY.) Tigers on March 19 in Sioux City, Iowa.
