Under Armour Team of the Week Announced
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Lewis-Clark State men’s basketball team and The College of Idaho softball team have been selected as the “Under Armour Teams of the Week” for March 15-21 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Playing in the round of 16 at the final site of the 2020-21 NAIA National Championship, the Warriors captured two victories to find themselves one win away from advancing to the title game.
In their first game LC State cruised to an 86-72 victory over the 14
th seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles. Trystan Bradley led the way with a double-double of 10 boards and 14 points. The Warriors downed 13 three-pointers and had five players with double-digit scoring.
LC State advanced to the semifinal game with a 75-70 overtime victory against 11
th seeded Loyola University (La.). It was Bradley again leading the Warriors with 18 points.
The CI softball squad ran their CCC record to 9-0 with a three-game conference sweep of Eastern Oregon University. CI showed plenty of offensive power with the 11-3, 14-1 and 12-1 wins. The Yotes added a fourth non-conference win over the Mountaineers on the weekend by an 8-2 margin.
The wins mark a program record of 13 straight for Al Mendiola and the Yotes. Mendiola recently surpassed the 400-win mark as head coach at CI.
Lewis-Clark State (21-1, 0-0 CCC) will face the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (TX) on Monday at 6 p.m. PST.
The College of Idaho (19-7, 9-0 CCC) will be at home March 27-28 hosting Carroll College in conference action.
