KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech (5-4, 3-3 CCC West) displayed a strong offensive showing once again as they swept the weekend series over the visiting Bushnell Beacons (0-8, 0-6 CCC West). The hosts controlled the tempo from the opening kick and played a full 90-minutes.
"The men came out strong and got two first half goals," said head coach
Casey Tate. "Big goal from Reilly on a great ball from Jake. Cade O'Neil ( #3 pictured) had some good goals and John Sarna with another good performance. Also nice to see freshman Riley Quarders getting his first assist. It was a great performance and weekend from the whole team, but we need to be ready for rival SOU next weekend."
A big theme over the weekend was something strongly similar to the women's matchup with the Beacons. The Tech men filled up the shot sheet. Throughout the course of the contest, the Owls outs-hot Bushnell 26-5, with 15 of those 26 shots being on frame.
Here's how the scoring went down.
30th Minute -- At the 29:24 mark, Reilly Combs broke the deadlock for OIT. Jake Mitchell stood over the free-kick, crossing it into the box where Combs re-directed the ball with his head into the back of the net.
42nd Minute -- Right on the stroke of halftime, Tech would grab some breathing room, pushing out to a 2-0 advantage. Hunter Hoogerwerf assisted Cade O'Neill, who rifled the ball into the top of the goal to grab all the momentum before half.
At the intermission, Tech led 2-0 and had out-shot Bushnell 12-2.
64th Minute -- After Anthony Santillan ripped a shot off of a defender, John Sarna had the presence of mind to pounce on the loose ball to rip Oregon Tech to a 3-0 lead.
88th Minute -- O'Neill would grab his 2nd of the match to seal a solid 4-0 victory for Tech. Riley Quarders found O'Neill inside the 18, who slotted the final goal of the contest.
The Owls stay at home and will host Southern Oregon (3-1) next Sunday and Monday, March 28 and 29 at 2:30 PM.
