Herbert Hat Trick Leads Owls to Sweep of Beacons

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (7-1, 5-1 CCC) blew out the Bushnell Beacons (0-9, 0-6 CCC), for the second consecutive day on Monday afternoon. Tech won 6-0, highlighted by a hat-trick from Abigail Herbert (37 Pictured) Overall, Tech scored 14 goals in the two game series.
 
The Lady Owls peppered the Bushnell goal left-and-right once again. Throughout the entire first half, 90% of possession was maintained by Tech in the Beacons half.
 
1st Minute -- Like she did in Game 1, Abigail Herbert got the Owls on the board first. A Mehana Ortiz cross found Herbert just 50 seconds into the match, as Tech grabbed a very early 1-0 lead.
 
3rd Minute -- Mehana Ortiz wasted no time in recording her second assist of the contest. Ortiz sent a cross into Maddie Miller who slotted the shot past the Beacons keeper, for an early 2-0 lead just 3 minutes in.
 
27th Minute -- After the tempo of the game had slowed down a bit, Abigail Herbert got the Owls back on the scoresheet. Kiah Wetzell found Herbert inside the box, who grabbed her 2nd goal to put Tech ahead 3-0.
 
48th Minute -- Karly Feis-White got on the board for Tech's 4th, scoring directly off of the corner, which a goal of pure class.
 
53rd Minute -- At the 52:03 mark, Herbert slotted in Tech's 5th goal of the night off of a spilt save by Bushnell's keeper. More importantly, it was Herbert's 3rd goal of the match, which sealed the hat-trick.
 
73rd Minute -- Fies-White was on the double after scoring from a Valerie Zubinski cross to seal the 3 points.
 
The Owls out-shot Bushnell 31-2 in the match, while putting 16 of those on frame to the Beacons 0.
 
Tech will return to play next Sunday and Monday to host Southern Oregon (4-1-1), in a battle atop the conference standings.
 
COVID-19 No Fans Protocols
Oregon Tech campus administration will be limiting the number of spectators allowed in our athletic home venues. With our limited venue capacity, we are prioritizing our Oregon Tech student athlete's family members. Oregon Tech is following current Klamath County guidelines which have recently moved into the Moderate Risk category. Moderate Risk allows for a small number of people to be allowed inside venues
