KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lewis-Clark State College’s Leon Menten was named the NAIA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, announced Wednesday by the national office.
Menten, a freshman from Antwerp, Belgium, started the year off with an almost rocket shot in the men’s javelin. In the process of winning the event in the first outdoor meet of the year for the Warriors, he also set a new school record, beating the record that had been held by his current coach and former Warrior (Jacob Whittaker). His throw also launched him to No. 1 in the country in the event with a throw of 63.36 meters (207’ 10”).
