CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Southern Oregon University men’s soccer team is beginning a mandatory 14-day pause of team activities due to COVID-19 protocols, the conference announced Friday.
The earliest the team could return to training would be April 7. As a result, the Raiders’ remaining Cascade Collegiate Conference matches against Oregon Tech (March 28-29), Corban University (April 5-6), and Northwest University (April 10-11) have been canceled. The makeup games against NU were only to be played if they affected the outcome of the CCC title race.
According to the CCC’s Oregon Health Authority-approved protocols, teams with fewer than 50 individuals are required to suspend activities when three or more have been put in isolation and may resume two weeks after the date of the most recent positive coronavirus test.
The Raiders had a 3-1 record through two weeks of action. Their scheduled opening weekend at Northwest had been canceled due to NU pausing team activities.
The women's games between SOU and OIT – originally slated as part of double-headers with the men's squads – are still to be played as scheduled.
