CORVALLIS, Ore. The following 20 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 22-28, 2021.
 
Women’s Basketball - Player
Corban University’s Halle Wright was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Wright, a six-foot sophomore forward from Aumsville, Ore., put up gaudy numbers in each of the Corban University women's basketball team's weekend games against OIT. The sophomore NCAA D1 transfer was on fire from the field and came up huge in the Warriors' overtime win over the Owls on Saturday.
 
Men’s Basketball - Player
Bushnell University’s Stevie Schlabach was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Schlabach, a six-foot-four sophomore guard from Tigard, Ore., led the Beacons to a 2-0 week, averaging 30.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. He shot 61.0-percent from the field, including 57.1-percent from beyond the arc. He also had three assists, three blocks and two steals on the week.
 
Baseball - Pitcher
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Trent Sellers was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Sellers, a six-foot-one sophomore pitcher from Kennewick, Wash., had the strongest start for LC State over the weekend in the sweep of EOU. The sophomore struck out nine in 5.2 innings and only gave up two hits in the combined shutout.
 
Baseball - Player
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Brock Ephan was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Ephan, a six-foot-four senior infielder from Kalaheo, Hawaii, stretched his hitting streak to 11 games on Sunday in the sweep of EOU. The senior launched a pair of home runs in the first game of the series and totaled four RBI in the game and had eight in total over the weekend.
 
Softball - Pitcher
No. 25-ranked College of Idaho’s Annie Polster was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Pitcher of the Week, her second honor of the year.
 
Polster, a five-foot-five freshman pitcher from West Richland, Wash., struck out a career-high 11 batters in the Game 1 win over Carroll College, adding a three-hitter in the Game 3 win to clinch the series sweep. She finished the week with 12 strikeouts, allowing just one earned run.
 
Softball - Player
Corban University’s Makiah Johnson was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Player of the Week.

Johnson, a five-foot-eight senior outfielder from Newport, Ore., led the Warriors to a 4-0 week. The leadoff hitter has been unreal at the plate as of late, garnering 16 hits in her last 24 at-bats (.667 average), and pushing her season average to an impressive .379 mark. She homered twice this weekend and drove in an absurd 11 runs.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Corban University’s Devan Archer was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Archer, a five-foot-seven freshman goalkeeper from Leavenworth, Wash., has been exceptional this season, tallying her fourth shutout of the season in Corban women's soccer's nail-biting overtime victory on the road at Northwest University. She then tacked on three more saves to preserve a triumph against Warner Pacific on Sunday, helping Corban move to 6-1 in conference play, one of the best starts for the squad in the best decade.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Oregon Tech’s Abigail Herbert was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Herbert, a five-foot-four senior midfielder from Milwaukie, Ore., scored three goals to help OIT grab two wins. She scored her hat trick against Bushnell University, accounting for three of the Owls’ six goals.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Warner Pacific University’s Hunter VanCleave was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
VanCleave, a six-foot senior defender from Missoula, Mont., anchored the backline for the Knights. With VanCleave in command, WPU averages one goal allowed per game and the Knight defense has committed zero fouls in the box to not allow any of their 11 opponents to attempt a single penalty kick. The Warner Pacific defense allowed Corban's offense to score just one goal on Sunday, a team that prior to the contest had been averaging 3.89 goals per game.
 
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Rocky Mountain College’s Sky Swenson was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Swenson, a six-foot senior forward from Berlin, Germany, scored three goals to help the Battlin’ Bears grab two wins. He scored the first goal in RMC’s 2-1 victory over Carroll and then added another two and an assist in Rocky’s 9-0 blanking over Multnomah University.
 
Men’s Outdoor – Field Athlete
Oregon Tech’s Hunter Drops was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Drops, a junior from Coos Bay, Ore., won both the javelin and pole vault with B qualifying marks at the Southern Oregon University Meet #2. Drops’ throw of 56.14 or 184 feet, two inches is No. 6 on the national list and his vault of 4.77 is 3 cm from the A and No. 5 on the national list.
 
Men’s Outdoor – Track Athlete
Southern Oregon University’s Bryce Goggin was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row.
 
Goggin, a junior from Eugene, Ore., improved on his NAIA 'A' standard 110-meter hurdles time, giving him the No. 9 spot on the NAIA performance list.
 
Women’s Outdoor – Field Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Delaney Warren was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Warren, a senior from Spokane, Wash., started her season strong with an individual win in the women's discus at the Whitworth Invite. Besting a field of 21 athletes, mostly NCAA Division I, Delaney punched her ticket to nationals with a throw of 43.27 meters, which sits fourth on the NAIA list.
 
Women’s Outdoor – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Anika Grogan was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Grogan, a freshman from Lewiston, Idaho, set two school records in the 100m (12.64 seconds) – breaking her own record set a week earlier – and in the 200m (25.67 seconds) at the Whitworth Invited. She finished second in both events with field predominately made up of NCAA Division I runners. Her marks currently rank her No. 1 in the 100m and No. 4 in the 200m in the Cascade Conference performance list.
 
Men’s Cross Country - Runner
No. 11-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Cole Olsen was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, his third honor of the year.
 
Olsen, a senior from Clearwater, Idaho, has gone 4-for-4 this season in cross country races and has capped off the regular season with a win in the Cascade Conference Championships. HIs time of 24:18 over the 8k course bettered the next closest competitor by 14 seconds. Cole led from start to finish. This is his second individual conference title, winning his first last year in LC State's final year in the Frontier Conference. He led his team to a narrow win over OIT in the team standings.
 
Women’s Cross Country - Runner
No. 12-ranked Oregon Tech’s Faith Widman was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, her fourth time winning the award this year.
 
Widman, a junior from Fairbanks, Alaska, won the Cascade Colligate Conference championship race in 17:41, a 42-second improvement on her season-best.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
No. 8-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Sade Williams was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Williams, a five-foot-nine sophomore outside/right-side hitter from Idaho Falls, Idaho, posted a pair of double-double performances in EOU's 2-0 weekend against No. 13 Corban. She posted 11 kills the first night and followed with 17 the next night. In both five set wins, she played all five sets and helped on defense with 10-plus digs both matches and finished with six block assists for the weekend to help Eastern improve to 13-0 overall.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
No. 8-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kiley McMurtrey was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
McMurtrey, a five-foot-three senior defensive specialist/libero from Idaho Falls, Idaho, helped anchor the defense for EOU in a pair of five-set victories. She totaled 51 digs for the weekend with 22 the first night and 29 the next. She also had a 94.1 reception percentage.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
Eastern Oregon University’s Madison Pilon was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
Pilon, a five-foot-11 senior setter from Olympia, Wash., tallied a season-high 52 assists on Saturday night and finished the weekend with 83. She put up a double-double in both wins with 15 digs on Friday and 16 on Saturday. Pilon also had two service aces for the weekend and tallied four block assists.
 
Women’s Golf - Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College’s Lauren Hamm was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Hamm, a senior from Ferndale, Wash., led the Warriors to a team title at the LC State Invitational with her second-straight individual title. She fired an 81 in the first round and bounced back with an even-par 72 to close the tournament.
