CORVALLIS, Ore. – In just one day, 10 teams begin their quest for the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season championship as conference action gets underway on Friday.

Due to COVID-19, provincial regulations and the continued closed border between Canada and the United, UBC was forced to opt-out of conference action in softball for the 2021 season.

Three teams begin the year ranked, with another earning votes in the NAIA Softball Coaches’ Preseason Poll.

No. 1-ranked Southern Oregon University was picked to win the conference after leaving unfinished business on the table last year and opens the year at Bushnell University. No. 17 College of Idaho hosts Northwest University, while No. 23-ranked Corban University hosts Carroll College for a pair of doubleheaders this weekend. Oregon Tech – who is receiving votes in the poll – begins the year at the University of Providence and Warner Pacific University starts the conference season at Eastern Oregon University.

The CCC Softball Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, is scheduled to play May 7-9 and will be hosted by the regular-season champion.

Recently, the CCC announced changes to its spectator policy, allowing fans to be permitted to events with capacity limits subject to state/county/local regulations, as well as, campus policies. CCC member schools intend on live streaming the majority of events, with the schedules being found by going to each athletic department’s website.
