KIRKLAND – Northwest held on for a wild win over Multnomah Friday night, 104-95.

Cacoa Chatman scored 25 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Eagles. Daniel Sharpe came off the bench for 19 points and nine rebounds, Pa'Treon Lee added 18, and Kelvin Omojola added 10 and seven assists.

The Lions countered with a two-man attack, getting 37 points from Forrest Smith and 33 from Zach Richardson.

Multnomah hit 15 three-pointers in 46 attempts while NU countered with a barrage of two-pointers and shot 56 percent from the field.

Northwest never trailed and finished the first half on an 18-5 run for a 59-39 lead at the half. Sharpe scored six points in that well-balanced scoring spree.

"I thought we played about as good of a first half as we've seen this season," said NU Head Coach Jeff Drinkwine. "The second half, we got a little careless and didn't work as hard as we had in the first half."

The Eagles led by as many as 26 points in the second half and had a 92-78 lead with 6:16 left in the game after Chatman stemmed the tide with a three-pointer.

"I thought Cacoa played a great game, and that was a big three-pointer at the time," Drinkwine said. "It's hard to play a team like that. I thought Forrest Smith just took over for them in the second half."

Multnomah whittled the lead down to 100-95 with 24 seconds left, but NU had relocated its defense down the stretch.

The teams meet again for a 3:30 p.m. tip on Saturday.
