Carroll Defeats Multnomah in Conference Opener
PORTLAND, Ore. – Opening up their conference campaign, the Multnomah University Lions were dealt the loss at home from the Saints of Carroll College with a final score of 8-1.
Scoring a hat trick in the victory was Carroll senior Nick Lowrimore, who landed 2 in the first half and one in the second. Other Saints with notable stats included Santiago Morazzani and Ben Dagg who both finished with 2 goals and 1 assist each.
The Saints scored 4 in the first half after 21 shot attempts. The first goal for Carroll came in the 17
th minute after a goal from Nick Lowrimore, who was set up from a header from Leo Georgiades. The next one came in the 21
st minute when Santiago Morazzani took advantage of a deflected ball and the goalie pulled up. The third was again from Nick Lowrimore, this time assisted from Jack Bentson. The final goal of the half came from Caleb Hoxie who was assisted by Paolo Georgiades, giving the Saints a 4-0 advantage.
Scoring their 5
th just two minutes into the second half, Carroll went up 5-0 after a goal from Ben Dagg who was assisted by Santiago Morazzani.
Multnomah’s only goal was scored after Noe Magana reached the back of the net on a free kick, making the score 5-1.
The Saints quickly responded with a goal of their own after Santiago Morazzani scored his second on a penalty kick. Nick Lowrimore finished his round after scoring in the 58
th minute, assisted by Ben Dagg. Dagg then got his second goal of the game in the 65
th minute after the assist from Luke Rosenberger.
Carroll outshot Multnomah 39-7, and tallied 9 corner kicks to the Lions 1.
The teams will take the field again on March 8
th with a 5pm start at Eastside Timbers Complex.
