KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech (3-2, 1-1 CCC West) scored two second half goals as they handed the visiting Warner Pacific Knights (5-1, 1-1 CCC West) their first loss of the season. With the 2-1 win, OIT earns a split of the two game series.
"The boys played with a lot of energy, especially being the second day versus a good Warner Pacific side," said
Casey Tate, OIT head coach. "Again, we had to come from behind which took a lot of heart and determination. It was great to see two upper classmen score in Jack Warner and Anthony Santillan. Both composed goals in the box. I was so happy for the men to get a result as they played well in both games. We need to take this momentum to Corban next weekend."
The Knights got on the scoreboard first as Nick Evans converted a PK in the 16
th minute; it was his sixth of the year.
The two teams battled over the next 41 minutes until OIT junior Jack Warner scored in the 58
th minute, tying the game at 1.
Fellow junior Anthony Santillan sent the Owls home happy, as he took a Cade O'Neil pass and scored in the 82 minute. It was his first of the season and 10
th as an Owl.
The teams had similar numbers on the day; WPC had 11 shots with Tech taking 10. Tech held a 4-2 edge in shots on goal and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Up next, Oregon Tech will travel to Salem, Ore. to take on the Warriors in CCC action Sunday and Monday, March 14 and 15.
