EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Oregon Tech's Payton Canon (Pictured) tops the leaderboard on the women's side while Andrew Webb of Bushnell leads the men after day one of the Oregon Tech Spring Invite being held at Eagle Point Golf Club.

Oregon Tech leads both groups with the women holding a 22 stroke edge over LC State. The Tech men have a much narrower lead of just four strokes over Multnomah, and seven strokes over third place Bushnell.

"It was good to finally get out and compete again," said Oregon Tech head coach Justin Wiles. "We certainly showed a bit of rust but that was to be expected. The round that Payton played today was really good. Today's score was maybe better than I expected but there is definitely room to improve."

Coach Wiles had this to say about the Tech men, "Today was an interesting day for the men. There were spurts of positive play mixed with errors that we don't normally make. These are the mistakes that come from a long layoff from competitive golf. Hopefully tomorrow we can limit our mistakes and break off some more rust."

Canon fired a one over par 73 to lead the field with Tech's Maiya Baker in second at 78, followed by Aerin Song in 3rd with an 80.

On the men's side after Webb, Kasey Crossland of Corban is second, followed by Jonah Pemberton of Multnomah, who is tied with Carlos Davila of Lewis Clark State.

Day 2 is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am weather permitting.
