CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following 17 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week for their performances during the period April 5-11, 2021.
Women’s Basketball - Player
Bushnell University’s Libby Mathis was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Mathis, a six-foot-four freshman center from Gresham, Ore., came off the bench in both Bushnell victories, averaging 21.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 73.1-percent from the field. She also had three steals, two blocks and an assist over the weekend.
Men’s Basketball - Player
Eastern Oregon University’s Max McCullough was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
McCullough, a five-foot-11 senior guard from Post Falls, Idaho, posted double figure points in both games against Oregon Tech. He hit the game-winner on Saturday to split series and shot over 50-percent in both games for EOU. McCullough finished the series averaging 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. He also had a steal and a block.
Baseball - Pitcher
No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Eric Chavarria was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Chavarria, a six-foot-one junior pitcher from Long Beach, Calif., had the strongest start of any LC State pitcher this week, going 6.1 innings with four strikeouts. He allowed just three hits and walked only one without giving up any runs in the Warriors’ 12-0 victory over Corban University, helping LC State secure the regular-season CCC championship with the win.
Baseball - Player
No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Brock Ephan was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this year.
Ephan, a six-foot-four senior infielder from Kalaheo, Hawaii, was dominant at the plate this weekend at Corban University. The senior collected 10 hits, with nearly half going to extra bases (two doubles and two home runs). He was 10-for-17 (.588) with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored.
Softball - Pitcher
Top-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Gabby Sandoval was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Pitcher of the Week, her fourth honor of the year and second in a row.
Sandoval, a five-foot-three senior pitcher from Anaheim, Calif., threw her eighth shutout of the year, a four-hitter, and didn't allow any earned runs in 12 innings over the weekend. She improved to 18-0 and lowered her ERA to 1.11 with the two victories.
Softball - Player
Carroll College’s Amber Brewer was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Player of the Week.
Brewer, a five-foot-three junior outfielder from Peoria, Ariz., finished the weekend with .571 batting and 1.286 slugging averages. She had five RBIs on the weekend for Carroll, knocking two home runs, including a go ahead home run in the sixth on Saturday’s win to secure the series victory over Bushnell University.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Bushnell University’s Makenna Hadaller was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Hadaller, a five-foot-eight senior goalkeeper from Burien, Wash., did everything she could to give Bushnell two ties to end the season. She allowed just one set-piece goal in 220 minutes of play while collecting 25 saves. On Tuesday in the final game of her career, Hadaller suffered a shoulder injury with 10 minutes to go in regulation. After having the Warner Pacific University athletic trainer pop it back into place, she remained in the game to play the final 30 minutes of her career, securing the shutout with five of her 11 saves.
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
College of Idaho’s Megan Wilkinson was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Wilkinson, a five-foot-six junior midfielder from Pasco, Wash., scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Carroll College to send C of I to its first-ever NAIA Tournament by winning the CCC’s East Division.
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Rocky Mountain College’s Milo Downey was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Downey, a six-foot-one senior midfielder from Colchester, England, helped the Battlin’ Bears grab two victories to end the regular season. In RMC’s 2-0 shutout win over the University of Providence, Downey helped hold the Argos to just five shots, while the Bears racked up 15 of their own. The next day, he assisted Rocky’s first goal en route to a 3-2 overtime victory for the Bears.
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Warner Pacific University’s Brennan Murphy was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Murphy, a six-foot junior forward from Spokane, Wash., scored four goals in Monday’s 6-2 victory over Bushnell University. His first goal came in the 23
rd minute, heading in a goal off a beautiful serve. He added another in the 58
th minute to put WPU up 3-0. After the Beacons found the back of the net twice, Murphy added some insurance in the 78
th minute and another in the 80
th minute, kneeing it in from five yards out.
Men’s Outdoor – Field Athlete
College of Idaho’s Bryan Terry was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, his second of the year.
Terry, a senior from Winnemucca, Nev., dominated all three heavy implements at the Grand View Invite in Des Moines, winning the shot put, discus and hammer throw against quality NAIA fields. He posted marks of 15.40 in the shot put, 46.34 in the discus, and 53.40 in the hammer throw.
Men’s Outdoor – Track Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Cody Milmine was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, his second of the year.
Milmine, a sophomore from Buffalo, Wyo., ran the fifth-fastest time in outdoor history for EOU in the 100. It was a close race all-around as he placed third in the event, finishing in 10.84 seconds.
Women’s Outdoor – Field Athlete
Southern Oregon University’s KiAshe Hobby was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Hobby, a sophomore from Sacramento, broke her own SOU hammer record with a throw of 169-9 that made her an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Championships and stands at No. 1 on the CCC list and No. 9 on the national list. She also won the shot put and discus at SOU Meet 3 with respective marks of 11.89 and 40.58.
Women’s Outdoor – Track Athlete
Southern Oregon University’s Lindsey Bonney was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Bonney, a junior from Grants Pass, Ore., hit the NAIA 'B' standard with the CCC's fastest 100 time this season (12.10 seconds) – and the third-fastest in SOU history – won the 200-meters (25.13 seconds), and anchored SOU's 4x100 team that turned in an 'A' standard time (46.98 seconds) that stands at No. 5 on the NAIA performance list.
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
No. 13-ranked Corban University’s Ally Tow was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
Tow, a six-foot junior outside hitter from Sweet Home, Ore., turned in perhaps her two best performances of the season in Corban's run to the CCC Volleyball Tournament Championship, presented by U.S. Bank. Fresh off an All-CCC award, she hit at a .619 clip in the semifinals against Oregon Tech – her highest attack percentage of the season (min. 4 kills) – before compiling a team-high 15 kills in the CCC Championship bout against previously-undefeated Eastern Oregon University.
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
No. 8-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kiley McMurtrey was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week for the fourth time this season.
McMurtrey, a five-foot-six defensive specialist/libero from Idaho Falls, Idaho, helped EOU advance to the championship game of the CCC Volleyball Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank. She finished the tournament with 5.43 digs per set and boasted a perfect 1.00 reception percentage. McMurtrey also had an ace and three assists over the weekend.
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
No. 13-ranked Corban University’s Jadyn Mullen was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week.
Mullen, a five-foot-eight junior setter from Puyallup, Wash., spearheaded Corban's setting duties in the CCC Volleyball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, this weekend, tallying team-best assist marks in each match. She also lent her talents to the squad's defensive efforts, notching 13 digs between the two contests. Fresh off the first All-CCC Honorable-Mention nod of her career, she played a key role in helping the Warriors seal their third CCC Tournament title in program history.
