CRESWELL, Ore. – Junior Caden Stubbs is tied for the 36-hole lead as the Beacons jumped out to a 14-shot lead after the first two rounds of the Bushnell Spring Invitational at Emerald Valley Golf Club.
 
The Beacons shot a 299 in the opening round and took an early four-stroke lead over CCC-leading Oregon Tech and The College of Idaho who were tied in second place. By the end of the second round Bushnell had expanded their lead to 14 shots, out-scoring OIT by ten.
 
With a combined 599 on their home course, the Beacons are sitting at 23-shots over par and lead both Multnomah University and the Owls who are tied at +37. Corban follows closely in fourth (+41) with the Yotes in fifth (+43), Lewis-Clark State in sixth (+48) and Walla Walla University in seventh (+107).
 
Stubbs boasted by best score in a windy afternoon session where he went 2-under par to finish the day at 146, tied with Corban’s Kasey Crossland at two-over. Multnomah’s Chase Snodgrass is two shots behind the leaders (148) while Bushnell’s Cole Radbourne and Oregon Tech’s Preston Luckman round out the top-five at 149.
 
For the Beacons, first-round leader Jon Holzgang sits in eighth-place at seven-over par (151). He was two-under after 18, but had a three-hole hiccup in the middle of the second round where he went seven-over.
 
Rounding out the Bushnell team scoring were Jackson Muramoto in 14th (155) and Andrew Webb in 16th (156). Five Beacons competed as individuals, led by Connor Maloney (159, 27th). Also golfing were Ethan Pentony (166, 36th), Alvaro Molina (168, 40th), Jackson Findley (171, 44th) and Evan Zuvich (183, 47th).
 
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the third round.
