McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Bushnell women’s basketball team had 15 steals and scored 32 points off 20 turnovers as they rolled to a 76-60 victory over Linfield College in non-conference action.
The Beacons (9-2) claimed their school-record tying eighth straight victory, and did so after taking a 50-25 halftime lead. Bushnell shot 55% in the game and the win was never in doubt. The visitors dominated every facet of the game, owning a 36-24 rebounding advantage and a 4-0 edge in blocks. Bushnell held a 52-18 margin in the paint, and a 16-2 advantage in second-chance points courtesy of nine offensive rebounds.
The Wildcats (1-8) shot 40% in the game. They were led in scoring by Delaney Ragan, coming off the bench to post a game-high 15. No starter had more than seven points for Linfield.
Bushnell was led by Morgan McKinney, scoring 14 points with five rebounds and four assists. Kaylen Kamelamela scored 12 while Aspen Slifka and reigning CCC Player of the Week Libby Mathis each had ten. Kayce Mock (pictured) scored six points but led all players with six rebounds and five steals.
After the game, head coach Chad Meadors said, “We started off slow in the first quarter but we really settled in midway through the second quarter and started to play at the tempo we wanted to. Linfield kept it close by picking apart our zone in the second half, but we were able to switch to a man defense in the fourth quarter and got some big stops and that was what we wanted to see.”
The focus now moves to a big final weekend of the season as Bushnell returns home to take on CCC-leading Eastern Oregon University twice in a battle for the conference championship. The teams will clash on Friday at 4:00 pm and again on Saturday 1:00 pm.
