INDIVIDUAL RESULTS | After holding a 17-stroke lead after the first day of the 2020-21 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, No. 23-ranked Oregon Tech stayed strong and walked away with both the tournament and regular-season championships.
The Owls finished the two-day tournament with a 608 to win by 13 strokes and secure a trip to the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Four Owls finished in the top-five, led by Payton Canon, who posted a 150 (75-75) for second place. Maiya Baker was one stroke off her teammate, finishing with a 151 (77-74) for third. Aerin Song finished in fourth (152) and Ashley Zhu tied for fifth (155).
Lewis-Clark State College took second as a team with a 621 and saw its first-ever CCC individual champion crowned. Lauren Hamm – who was named the 2020-21 CCC Women’s Golfer of the Year – won the individual title after taking one stroke off her first-round score to finish with a 145 (73-72). Brooke Orr tied for fifth with a 155 (82-73) after bouncing back after a rough first round.
Corban University took third with a 662, while host College of Idaho placed fourth as a team at 676. Bushnell University rounded out the team scores with a 685 for fifth.
Oregon Tech also won the regular-season title after posting the best
win/loss record of the regular season CCC tournaments, including the conference championship.
All-Conference performers are based on the stroke average over a minimum of three CCC tournaments, one of which must be the championship, with the top seven earning the honors. The top stroke average was crowned the CCC Women’s Golfer of the Year, with Hamm, who averaged a 76.3, earning that title.
LC State’s head coach Kyla Lien was voted by her peers as the 2020-21 CCC Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a runner-up team finish in their first year competing in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
