2020 Women’s Cross Country National Championship Preview
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2020 Women’s Cross Country National Championship will take place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday, April 9, with four Cascade Collegiate Conference teams and four individuals set to compete in the 5K race.
No. 2-ranked College of Idaho grabbed the CCC’s automatic qualifier, while No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College, No. 12-ranked Oregon Tech, and No. 22-ranked Northwest University grabbed at-large berths to the championship. Corban University’s Gracie Long, Eastern Oregon University’s Michelle Herbes, Multnomah University’s Shiloh Najjar, and Bushnell University’s Tea Chatelain qualified as individuals.
Championship Preview Highlights
- We will see 35 teams and 98 individuals at the 41st Annual Women’s Cross Country National Championship.
- This is the second year that the championship has been hosted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Mount Mercy University (Iowa) serves as the host for the championship.
- The 5k race will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Seminole Valle Cross Country Course.
- The race will be streamed live for the first time this year and can be found HERE
- The timer will be sending live results HERE. Keep in mind these results are not finalized until after the review period.
- There are six teams that have 10 or more appearances since 2010: College of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), Milligan (Tenn.), Shawnee State (Ohio), Aquinas (Mich.), Carroll (Mont.)
- There are five teams attending the national championship for the first time since 2010: Cumberlands (Ky.), Midway (Ky.), Montreat (N.C.), St. Francis (Ind.), WVU Tech (W.Va.)
- The NAIA meet record for the 5k is 16:24.28 set by Aminat Olowora of Oklahoma City in 2016
