KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2020-21 NABC Coaches’ NAIA All-America team Thursday. The 12 student-athletes represent the most outstanding basketball players across America in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

After leading Lewis-Clark State College to the NAIA Championship game, as well as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, Damek Mitchell picked up his first NABC All-American honor, adding to an already stellar resume where he was named the CCC Player of the Year following the 2020-21 season.

The Bellingham, Wash., native leaves LC State as one of, if not the most, decorated Warrior in program history. This is the senior's fourth All-American nod, he grabbed first team All-American honors from the NAIA earlier this year and was a third-team All-American last season and Honorable Mention honoree as a sophomore. Mitchell was also named to the All-National Tournament Team after the NAIA national title game.

Mitchell led LC State in assists (111) and steals (35) this season while averaging 15 points per game. The guard grabbed six rebounds per game and shot 44.9 percent from the floor and 40.1 percent from 3 and made 81.8 percent of his free throws. He will leave his mark in the record books as the all-time leader in assists (595) and 3-pointer made (206). He is second in free throws made (309) and wins (104), third in scoring (1,395), tied for fifth in games played (123), sixth in rebounds (546), eighth in steals (141) and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (.420).
