Corvallis, Ore.- With student-athletes the choice of competing in a post-season championship or attending their campus commencement ceremonies can sometimes be difficult. A long held tradition in the Cascade Conference of providing a ceremony at the annual Track and Field Championships alleviates that pressure.

This past Saturday four student-athletes from Lewis-Clark State College, who, as a result of competing, missed their campus graduation had their degrees conferred by Eastern Oregon University President Tom Insko. EOU hosted the 2021 meet and Insko presided over a ceremony filled with all the pomp and circumstance of any graduation down to the final "cap toss."

Leading theprocessional of graduates was Mary Barnett. Barnett is the Asst. Director of Athletics for Eligibility and Student Success at EOU. A graduate of Washington State University, Barnett was a former Pac-12 Track/Field Student Athlete competing for the Cougars in Track and Field
