Song Leads Owls After Day One of NAIA National Championships

Oklahoma City, OK. – The Oregon Tech women's golf team fired a first round score of 311 (+23) to sit in 17th place after day 1 of the NAIA Women's Championship Tuesday at Rose Creek Golf Course.

"We got off to a slow start as a group," said interim head coach Justin Wiles. "I'm really happy with how we bounced back after our start. If we can clean up a few mistake tomorrow and get off to a better start we should move up the leaderboard."
 
The Owls trail Keiser University by 22-strokes as they lead the field after a 289 (+1).
 
Aerin Song leads the Owls after her first round 74 (+4) as she is tied for 41st. Maiya Baker is one stroke behind Song after her first round 75 (+5) that was highlighted by an Eagle (3) on the par 5 eighth hole.
 
Placing right behind Song is Payton Canon 78 (+6), rounding out the scoring for Tech was Grace Hull 80 (+8) and Ashley Zhu who had 81 (+9)
 
Tech will look to continue to move up the leaderboard during round two of the NAIA National Championships on Wednesday, May 26 in Oklahoma City, OK. The top 17 teams and the top 40 individuals after day two will advance to the third and fourth rounds of the championship on Thursday and Friday May 27 and 28 respectively.
