MEN'S RESULTS] The final day of the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Complex in Gulf Shores, Ala., saw many All-American finishes from the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Southern Oregon University's Arianna Daniel missed a national championship by a hair, taking second in the 400m with a time of 55.33 – only four-hundredths of a second behind the champion.
- SOU's women's 4x100 relay team – with Daniel, Lindsey Bonney, Julia Delucchi and Baylee Touey – placed fifth with a time of 46.56 seconds.
- Daniel's two newest All-America plaques gave her nine total, the most ever for a Raider sprinter and the second-most in women's team history.
- Raiders' Adam O'Brien placed seventh in the pole vault and Kevin VanDyke placed eighth in the 3K steeplechase to bring SOU's tally to four All-American finishes on the final day, seven overall.
- Oregon Tech’s Hunter Drops finished fifth in the pole vault, helping the Hustlin’ Owl men to a 17th-place finish overall.
- Stephen Campbell broke the College of Idaho school record in the shot put, placing ninth in the finals.
- Larissa Mauer took bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with teammate Sage Martin adding an eighth-place finish in the event, to help The College of Idaho women to a 15th-place finish overall.
- LC State's Delaney Warren capped her career with her second All-American honor after hitting a personal-record in the discus to take eighth with a throw of 43.73 meters.
- The Warrior men finished tied for eighth at the meet with 28 points, marking the first-ever top-10 finish for LC State Track and Field.
- LC State's Connor Turpin was up bright and early in his marathon race. The junior from Lewiston, Idaho, set off at 4 a.m. PT and finished his race with a time of 2:42:00.
- LC State's Clayton VanDyke claimed the third National Runner-Up title of his career with his second-place finish in the 1,500m. He finished .47 seconds behind the winner in the event after pulling ahead of a runner in front of him.
- Eastern Oregon University's Maggie Ledbetter garnered her second All-American honor with a top-eight finish in the discus.
- Corban University's Gracie Long took ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals with a time of 11:33.00.
