CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following 12 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week for their performances during the period April 26 – May 2, 2021.
Women’s Basketball - Player
Eastern Oregon University’s Jillian Albright was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Albright, a five-foot-10 senior guard from Winnemucca, Nev., scored in double figures in her final two games as a Mountaineer. She did not miss a single shot in the first game against Pacific and missed just three shots the whole weekend, posting an .800 field goal percentage on the weekend. Albright posted a double-double in her final game as a Mountaineer to lead EOU to win, finishing the week averaging 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Men’s Basketball - Player
Eastern Oregon University’s Brandon Porter was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Porter, a six-foot-two senior guard from East Wenatchee, Wash., scored a career-high 41 points on Friday night against Pacific, shooting 5-6 from three-point range on the night. He scored in double figures in both games for the Mountaineers, averaging 29.0 points per game, along with 5.5 rebounds per game. Porter finished with a .537 field goal percentage, including a .750 effort from three-point range.
Baseball - Pitcher
Oregon Tech’s Trask Telesmanich was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.
Telesmanich, a six-foot-one senior pitcher from Gladstone, Ore., set the tone for Tech on Senior Day as he had seven strikeouts in six innings in the first game of the series. He allowed four hits in a must-win game for OIT and improved his season record to 6-3.
Baseball - Player
No. 6-ranked Brock Ephan was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Baseball Player of the Week for the second week in a row and fourth time this season.
Ephan, a six-foot-four senior infielder from Kalaheo, Hawaii, continued his incredible season at the plate over the weekend at Eastern Oregon University. The senior tallied 11 hits (11-for-21) in the four games and had 13 RBIs. He slugged 1.190 with a .565 on-base percentage. Eight of his hits went for extra bases with five doubles and three home runs.
Softball - Pitcher
No. 6-ranked Oregon Tech’s Sarah Abramson was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.
Abramson, a five-foot-10 junior pitcher from Milwaukie, Ore., threw back-to-back complete game two-hitters as she led the Owls to a weekend sweep of EOU to help the Owls improve to 19-5 on the season. She went eight innings in a 2-1 OIT win to start the four-game series and finished the weekend with 16 combined strikeouts. She leads the CCC with an average of 7.35 strikeouts per game.
Softball - Player
No. 23-ranked College of Idaho’s Trystin Crofts was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Player of the Week for the second time this year.
Crofts, a five-foot-five senior third baseman from Tooele, Utah, had a record-breaking series against Warner Pacific University, going a combined 8-for-13 with six runs scored. Over the weekend, she established C of I's new school record for triples in a career (13) and hits in a career (219), while tying the school record with 120 RBI. Crofts finished the weekend batting .615 with a .769 slugging percentage.
Men’s Outdoor – Field Athlete
Southern Oregon University’s Garrett Bryan was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Bryan, a junior from Mount Shasta, Calif., recorded the top CCC and sixth-best NAIA mark of the season in the pole vault, clearing 16 feet, 1/2 inches to meet the 'A' standard. He's just the fourth individual in SOU history to clear 16 feet and finished second overall at NCAA Division I Oregon State.
Men’s Outdoor – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Clayton VanDyke was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, his first outdoor honor and third honor overall.
VanDyke, a senior from Vernal, Utah, dominated in the 800m at the Bucs Scoring Invitational, winning the event with the sixth-fastest time in the NAIA. He hit an ‘A’ standard and was .21 seconds off the school record. VanDyke also anchored the men's 4x400m relay team that broke the school record.
Women’s Outdoor – Field Athlete
College of Idaho’s Sophi Clay was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Clay, a freshman from McCall, Idaho, recorded a personal-best mark of 11.09 meters in the triple jump at the Bucs Scoring Invite. He took third overall and now has the second-best mark of the CCC in the triple.
Women’s Outdoor – Track Athlete
College of Idaho’s Kiersten Lancaster was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, her second of the season.
Lancaster, a senior from Declo, Idaho, improved her NAIA "A" standard in the 100-meter hurdles, blitzing the field at the Buc Scoring Invite with a time of 14.39 seconds. She now has the top 100-meter hurdle mark in the CCC by nearly a half second.
Women’s Golf - Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College’s Lauren Hamm was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Women’s Golfer of the Week for the second time this season.
Hamm, a senior from Ferndale, Wash., won the Cascade Collegiate Conference individual title with two strong rounds. She shot a one-over, 73, in the first round and matched par in the second to win by five strokes with a score of 145.
Men’s Golf - Golfer
Multnomah University’s Jacob Larson was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Larson, a senior from Vancouver, Wash., was the individual winner of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament, also leading his team to the overall victory and the program’s first-ever national bid. After the first two rounds, Larson was sitting in second place, but some gutsy shots and true grit earned him first place (212) - helping his team win the championship by just a single stroke.
