NEWBERG, Ore. - Bushnell long jumpers Jaron Carter and Mayah Pappas took center stage on Thursday, leading the Beacon contingent at the Frank Haskins Invitational, hosted by George Fox University.

Having already earned a spot at next week's conference event in the 100m and 200m sprints, Carter added the long jump on Thursday, hitting a leap of 6.27m to break past the CCC standard by over two inches and take second place. He was also second in the 100m, and was the top collegiate finisher, running a time of 10.92 for the fourth fastest time in school history.

Currently ranked third in the CCC in the triple jump, Prince Harris won that event at George Fox by nine inches, crossing 12.93 meters.

Hitting a season best on the track was senior Jacob Lackey, running a 4:20.75 in the 1500m.

Already a conference qualifier, Pappas hit a new career best of 5.27 meters to win the long jump competition. In the process, she moved up from No. 14 to No. 3 on the Cascade Conference performance list with just a week to go before the CCC Championship.

Pappas was busy on the track as well, setting new collegiate PR's in the 400m and 200m events. She wasn't alone in hitting season bests. Senior Jasmine Lay posted her best 400m and best 200m as well. In the 200m, freshman Adrienne Mai also had a season-low time of 27.44.

In the 100m Hurdles, freshman Sierra Janikowski improved her time to 17.64 while in the Pole Vault, Skye Urban moved up to 2.69 meters.

Another batch of Beacons will be back in action in Eugene on Friday night, taking part in the Oregon Twilight.
