CCC Sports Information Directors Rank in Top-10 of NAIA-SIDA Publication Contests

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Despite a challenging year of collegiate competition, the Cascade Collegiate Conference saw lots of wins, including a National Champion crowned. Over the course of the year, it was the conference’s sports information directors (SIDs) telling the story of the CCC student-athletes’ successes and eight SIDs were recognized for their talent by the NAIA-SIDA Monday.
 
The NAIA-SIDA had 18 contest categories for SIDs in the NAIA to submit work for, including a new category just for this year: COVID-19 Feature Stories. The contests range from writing to video to design.
 
College of Idaho’s Mike Safford, Jr. and Sven Alskog had nine placings between the two of them, including yoteathletics.com taking fourth overall in the Best Website category. Safford took second and ninth in Game Notes, third in Game Day Programs, ninth in Feature Stories, and sixth in the COVID-19 Feature. Alskog took second in Call of the Year, fifth in Feature Video, and eighth in the Season Preview/Review category.
 
Bushnell University’s Nick Askew also had a second-place finish in the Season Preview/Review category for his women’s basketball preview. He also took ninth in Best Splash Page/Wallpaper and worked with Tyler Timm to take sixth in the Infographics - Game Day category.  
 
Lewis-Clark State College’s Alisha Alexander — who was named the CCC 2020-21 SID of the Year — took eighth in Infographics - Events/Accolades/Breaking News and seventh in the Feature Video category.
 
Warner Pacific University’s Abby Wilson showcased her design skills and took fourth in Infographics - Events/Accolades/Breaking News, fifth and eighth in Best Splash Page/Wallpaper, and seventh in Game Day Programs.
 
Corban University’s Jarett Thoren took third in Best Splash Page/Wallpaper, fourth in the Infographics - Events/Accolades/Breaking News with Wilson, and eighth and ninth in the Motion Graphics (Gifs) category.
 
Northwest University’s Ray Fink grabbed seventh in COVID-19 Features and ninth in Game Day Programs.
 
The CCC’s Sammi Wellman took third for her COVID-19 Feature Story on Eastern Oregon University’s Sorensen. She also placed fourth in Feature Stories on her feature about the women leaders in the CCC.
