CORVALLIS, Ore. – After three Cascade Collegiate Conference were the final three teams left standing at the 2021 NAIA Softball Championship, nine student-athletes were named to the All-Tournament Team with one earning the Most Valuable Player honor.
No. 1-ranked Southern Oregon University won its second-consecutive championship and saw Riley Donovan named the Tournament MVP. Donovan, SOU's cleanup hitter, served as the designated player in all seven games and went 11-for-17 with two home runs, two doubles, eight RBIs and seven runs scored. She also drew a team-high seven walks, giving her an on-base percentage of .760.
Donovan was joined by four Raiders on the all-tournament team: Lauren Quirke, Gabby Sandoval, Hannah Shimek and Allie Stines.
Oregon Tech had a stellar season and finished as the National Runner-Up, surpassing the Owls’ No. 17 ranking heading into the postseason. Three Owls were named to the all-tournament team: McKenna Armantrout, Sarah Abramson and Kaila Mick.
No. 15-ranked College of Idaho also surpassed its ranking, finishing in third after a historic season. The Yotes set a school record for wins in a season and grabbed the highest finish on the national level for the softball program in C of I history. Katelyn Wilfert and Hattie Hruza picked up all-tournament honors following their performances at the World Series.
