UBC Predicted to Reclaim CCC Women’s Golf Title

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Due to border closures because of the coronavirus, British Columbia didn’t compete in the 2020-21 season. The Thunderbirds make their return this year and were picked to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference title as the conference announced the 2021-22 CCC Women’s Golf Preseason Poll Monday.

UBC grabbed six first-place votes to sit in first place in the poll with 47 points. The Thunderbirds won the 2019 CCC Tournament Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, and look to take back their crown. That year, UBC went on to finish fifth at the NAIA Championship tournament.

Oregon Tech is right on the Thunderbirds’ tails with one first-place vote and 41 total points. The Owls swept the 2020-21 CCC Women’s Golf Championships and went on to finish 13th at the national tournament.

Lewis-Clark State College picked up 33 points to sit in third after its debut season in the CCC. The Warriors finished second last year and saw its first-ever CCC individual champion crowned.

Corban University follows in fourth with 29 points, while Bushnell University rounds out the top five with 22 points for fifth. The College of Idaho (sixth, 17 points) and Walla Walla University (seventh, seven points) close out the preseason poll.

The 2021-22 CCC Women’s Golf Championship Tournament takes place April 25-26, 2021, with Oregon Tech as host in Klamath Falls, Ore.
