CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) partnered with the NAIA Legislative Services Department to offer a Rules Education seminar for athletic Compliance Officers, Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR’s) and campus Registrars.
NAIA Director of Legislative Services, Dr. Brenda White, conference FAR and National Eligibility Committee Chair (NEC), Dr. Bryce Bernard and conference Eligibility Chair Ms. Mickie Bush led the presentation to nearly 50 attendees from the Cascade and Frontier Conference.
“We made the decision to offer this training a year earlier than we normally would have,” stated conference commissioner Robert Cashell. “We typically do a compliance seminar every three years but want to make sure the individuals responsible for certification of eligibility have the information needed because of the multitude COVID-19 exceptions affecting eligibility moving forward, as well as, some rather significant changes made during the National Convention.”
White provided a comprehensive review of rules related to seasons of competition, terms of attendance and initial/ongoing certification along with changes to the ECP software and process that campus representatives use to complete the eligibility process for student-athletes.
The conference, and the NAIA are planning for a return to regular scheduled seasons which begin in the fall.
