CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following five CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during the period August 16-22, 2021.
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
No. 15-ranked Corban University’s Rylee Troutman was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
Troutman, a freshman outside hitter from Powell Butte, Ore., played a critical role as Corban swept its six-match road trip to begin the season, including a pair of road wins at No. 9 Westmont – which had previously only lost at home twice in the 2016-20 seasons combined. She registered a new career high in kills (18) and hitting percentage (.500) vs. Benedictine Mesa, before setting a new career-best in kills (19) and a career-high in digs (17) in the squad's thrilling five-set victory against Westmont on Saturday.
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
No. 15-ranked Corban University’s Kealani Ontai was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week.
Ontai, a junior defensive specialist from Pearl City, Hawaii, led the charge defensively to help Corban grab six-straight wins to open the 2021 campaign. She registered 101 digs between the six matches (leading the CCC), averaging 4.81 digs per set.
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
No. 15-ranked Corban University’s Jadyn Mullen was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week.
Mullen, a junior setter from Puyallup, Wash., facilitated the offense as Corban swept its six-match road trip to begin the season. She tallied 120 assists to lead the squad, averaging 0.57 a set, and collected 36 digs on the defensive end.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 19-ranked Oregon Tech’s Alyx Burkhartzmeyer was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Burkhartzmeyer, a sophomore goalkeeper from West Linn, Ore., picked up two wins this week between the pipes leading the Owls with back-to-back shutouts – her 10 and 11th in a row dating back to last season. She made four saves to keep OIT’s opponents at bay, including two against NCAA Division II foe Humboldt State.
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
No. 19-ranked Oregon Tech’s Mehana Ortiz was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Ortiz, a freshman forward from Mililani, Hawaii, had a great start to the season, scoring the game-winner vs. William Jessup and assisting on two others in the 4-0 win. She then added the game-winning assist in the Owls’ upset 1-0 win over Humboldt State. Ortiz finished with one goal and three assists on the weekend and posted a .750 shots on goal percentage.
