CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Southern Oregon University volleyball team has been selected as the “Under Armour Team of the Week” for August 23-29 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Competing in the William Jessup (Calif) Invitational, the Raiders dominated in a straight-set sweep of Menlo (Calif) (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) in the tourney opener, before defeating UC Merced in straight-sets (25-19, 25-23, 25-15) on day one. On day two, Southern defeated the host WJU Warriors in a five-set thriller (20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17,15-6), followed by a straight-set triumph over Simpson University (25-22, 25-9, 25-23), finishing the tourney undefeated.
The Raiders (5-0 overall, 0-0 CCC) will open CCC play on the road Sept. 3-4 as they travel to Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and Walla Walla University. It will be the first ever conference match-up between SOU and LCSC as the Raiders opted out of the COVID shortened spring season which was LC’s first season as league members.
