Rohmann, Gray tally in SOU's 2-0 win at Marymount

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Southern Oregon University women's soccer team broke into win column with a 2-0 decision against Marymount California on Monday at El Camino College, composing its second clean sheet in a row to start the season.

Morgan Rohmann got the Raiders (1-0-1) on the scoreboard for the first time by tallying unassisted in the 39th minute. It was the senior midfielder's first career goal.

Thirty-two seconds before the final buzzer sounded, sophomore midfielder Jasmine Gray added her first goal as a Raider. Malaika Quigley was credited with the assist.

The matchup struck a different tone than Saturday's scoreless draw at The Master's (Calif.), where the Raiders were out-shot 28-7. Against the Mariners – members of the California Pacific Conference who were making their season debut – SOU racked up an 11-2 shots advantage. Baylee Touey led the team with two on target.

The control of possession meant SOU keeper Ashlynn Hernandez only needed to make one save for the shutout.

The Raiders have opened with back-to-back shutouts for the first time in the team's 22-year history.

They'll attempt to continue the streak on Wednesday when they finish their trip at Westmont (Calif.), the No. 18 team in the NAIA preseason coaches' poll. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
