CCC Volleyball Scoreboard 9.10.21

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The second weekend of Cascade Collegiate Conference action began Friday, with just three teams remaining unbeaten. Three matches went to extra sets, including two five-set thrillers.

No. 14 Eastern Oregon University def. Walla Walla University, 3-0
EOU (7-4, 2-1 CCC) grabbed a three-set sweep over Walla Walla (0-4, 0-3 CCC) Friday afternoon (25-13, 25-11, 25-11). The Mountaineers had their best offensive output on Friday afternoon as the team hit a season best .333 in the win, led by Jet Taylor boasting an impressive .615 clip with nine kills.

Lewis-Clark State College def. College of Idaho, 3-1
LC State (6-5, 1-2 CCC) battled from behind in the third to take control of the match at the College of Idaho (3-8, 0-3 CCC), winning in four sets (25-21, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17). Cassidy Nelson led all players with 19 kills in the match for the Warriors. Emily Vandenberg finished with a team-high 11 kills for the Coyotes.

Oregon Tech def. The Evergreen State College, 3-2
Two unbeaten teams from the weekend before came head-to-head as Oregon Tech (7-1, 3-0 CCC) and The Evergreen State College (2-2, 2-1 CCC) squared off. It took five sets, but the Owls came away victorious (20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-14, 15-7). Nicole Reyes had a big night for OIT, posting 17 kills, while Lily Stewart and Hannah Rongen each finished with 10 kills for the Geoducks.

No. 7 Corban University def. Warner Pacific University,3-0
Corban (9-0, 3-0 CCC) kept its winning streak going with a three-set sweep over WPU (25-2, 25-12, 25-10). The Warriors came out fired up and stunned the Knights (0-6, 0-3 CCC) 25-2 in the first set.

RV Bushnell University def. Multnomah University, 3-0
Bushnell (6-1, 2-1 CCC) swept Multnomah (1-3, 0-3 CCC) in three sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-20) Brooke Silvernail led the Beacons with 13 kills, while Hannah McPhetridge had six kills for the Lions.

Northwest University def. No. 21 Southern Oregon University, 3-2
The match of the night was a five-set thriller between No. 21-ranked Southern Oregon (7-1, 2-1 CCC) and Northwest University (4-4, 3-0 CCC). The Eagles dug deep and won the match 3-2 (15-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18, 16-14) to remain undefeated in conference play. Setter Anna Saelens had 52 assists and helped four Eagles reach double figures in kills: Megan Horne (20), Abi Broussard (14), Susana Bailey (10) and Jill Botsford (10). SOU had previously won all 24 of its matches against unranked opponents at home since moving into Lithia Motors Pavilion in 2018.
