WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following nine CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during the period September 6-12, 2021.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
Oregon Tech’s Nicole Reyes was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Reyes, a senior outside hitter from Fairfield, Calif., led all players in both matches in kills when Oregon Tech beat The Evergreen State College in five sets and Norwest University in three sets to keep the Owls undefeated in conference. She tallied 17 kills vs. the Geoducks and hit .255 percent with nine digs and one service ace. The next night she registered 14 kills in three sets and added two service aces and seven digs.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
Bushnell University’s Sierra Jenkins was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Jenkins, a freshman outside hitter from Springfield, Ore., was called to play middle blocker over the weekend for the Beacons and came up big to help Bushnell pick up two three-set victories. She posted 12 blocks over the weekend to average 2.00 per set. Jenkins tallied seven of her blocks against Warner Pacific University, helping hold the Knights to a negative hitting percentage (-.030).
 
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
The Evergreen State College’s Sierra Wolff was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
Wolff, a senior setter from Caldwell, Idaho, led the Geoducks to a 1-1 weekend, including an upset victory over No. 21-ranked Southern Oregon University. She recorded 36 assists in helping her team take down the Raiders 3-0 on Saturday and then recorded a double-double against Oregon Tech in a 3-2 loss with 40 assists and 18 digs. Wolff finished the week averaging 9.50 assists and 3.25 digs per set.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
College of Idaho’s Payton Anderson was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Anderson, a senior defender from Boise, Idaho, was the anchor at the left back position for a C of I defense to help the Coyotes post a pair of road shutouts to close non-conference play. She also pushed forward for a pair of assists, including grabbing the game-winning assist in overtime at Linfield.
  
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
College of Idaho’s Lily Schlake was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Schlake, a junior forward from Meridian, Idaho, scored a pair of goals in C of I's weekend wins in Oregon, including the game-winning goal in overtime at Linfield. She led C of I with seven total shots, including putting five on frame.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Oregon Tech’s Kyle Sanchez was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Sanchez, a junior defender from Post Falls, Idaho, anchored the Oregon Tech defense in the Owls’ two shutout wins. He had several clearances, winning many duels as he led the defense that allowed just two shots on goal in 180 minutes of play.

Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Northwest University’s Elliot Misic was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Misic, a junior forward from Lake Forest Park, Wash., scored in both of NU’s two games over the weekend. Both goals came as game-winners to lift the Eagles 4-3 over Puget Sound and 2-1 over Linfield. Misic also added an assist in both games.
 
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
College of Idaho’s Kahea Figueira was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Figueira, a freshman from Spokane, Wash., earned the individual title in her collegiate debut at the Central Washington Invite. She covered the 4,000-meter distance in a time of 15 minutes, 33 seconds – one of only 4 racers in the event under 16:00 – and helped C of I to the team victory.
 
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
College of Idaho’s Logan Hunt was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Hunt, a sophomore from Athol, Idaho, earned the individual title at the Central Washington Invite, besting the field of 60 runners with a 6,000-meter time of 19:27. He won the meet by 13 seconds, marking his second career individual win and his fourth career Top-3 finish.
