CORVALLIS, Ore. – Just five months ago, the 2020 Cascade Collegiate Conference season ended. Due to the pandemic, the season was played in the spring and was split into two divisions – East and West – however Friday kicks off the new 2021 season and that goes out the window.
The CCC is back to one division of 13 teams with its two NAIA automatic qualifiers on the line for the regular-season champion and the tournament champ.
Prior to the year starting, Eastern Oregon University was picked to win the conference after grabbing an at-large bid to the NAIA Women’s Soccer Championship and advancing to the final site. The Mounties currently rank 15
th in the NAIA poll and look to win their third CCC crown.
Oregon Tech and the College of Idaho will also be top contenders for the title after winning their respective divisions in the spring. The Owls – who rank No. 21 in the NAIA poll – were picked to take second while the Coyotes grabbed the third spot on the preseason poll.
After a year hiatus, the CCC Women’s Soccer Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, returning on Nov. 9 in Springfield, Ore. Due to the divisional split, the 2020 spring season did not have a tournament.
