The CCC Men’s Soccer Season Starts Today

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Less than a year ago, the 2020 Cascade Collegiate Conference season ended. Due to the pandemic, the season was played in the spring and was split into two divisions – East and West – however Friday kicks off the new 2021 season with all 14 teams back in action.

The CCC is back to one division with its two NAIA automatic qualifiers on the line for the regular-season champion and the tournament champ.

Corban University was picked to win the CCC after grabbing the West Division championship in the spring and making their eighth-consecutive trip to the NAIA Championship Tournament. The Warriors currently sit ranked No. 23 in the NAIA.

Rocky Mountain College – which is earning votes in the NAIA poll – grabbed three first-place votes in the preseason poll after winning the East Division in the spring with an unblemished 8-0 mark. The Battlin’ Bears advanced to the NAIA Championship tournament but lost in the first round

After a year hiatus, the CCC Men’s Soccer Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, returning on Nov. 9 in Springfield, Ore. Due to the divisional split, the 2020 spring season did not have a tournament.

The College of Idaho heads to Multnomah University for an early morning kick off, starting the game at 10:00 a.m. The Coyotes are coasting a two-game winning streak with Caio Pereira earning the CCC Offensive Player of the Week honor. The Lions are on a quest for their first win of the season.

Oregon Tech (4-0-0) vs. Northwest University (4-1-1), 12:00 p.m.
Both Oregon Tech (4) and Northwest University (3) carry win streaks into their midday matchup. The Hustlin’ Owls ended non-conference action with a 4-0 victory over Sierra Nevada College, looking to carry momentum into the conference season. The Eagles are hoping to match the program's best six-game start (5-1 in 2014). NU is 12-6-2 all time against Oregon Tech, but OIT has won the last two meetings.

Southern Oregon University (4-0-0) vs. The Evergreen State College (0-3-0), 1:00 p.m.
Southern Oregon University puts the program's best-ever start on the line after COVID-19 interrupted the 2020 campaign. The Raiders are unbeaten in 23 of their last 24 home games, having turned in 20 clean sheets during that stretch. The Geoducks have dropped all three of their games against NCAA Division III competition after opting out of last season. SOU is 2-1-2 in the series and hasn't given up a goal against TESC since 2016.

Carroll College (0-2-0) vs. Bushnell University (0-3-0), 1:00 p.m.
Both Carroll College and Bushnell University are looking for their first wins of the year. The Beacons have scored twice on the young year, while the Saints are looking to break through for the first time. Carroll won the last matchup between the two squads with a 2-0 victory on Oct. 11, 2019.

No. 23 Corban University (1-2-0) vs. Walla Walla University (0-1-1), 2:00 p.m.
Corban saw its Sept. 11 contest with Pacific Lutheran University canceled so the Warriors look to shake off some idleness as they enter the conference season. Walla Walla University opened the year with a 1-1 tie at George Fox after opting out of the 2020 season. Corban has won the last five games, including a 6-0 blanking on Nov. 1, 2019.

Warner Pacific University (3-1-0) vs. Eastern Oregon University (0-3-0), 4:30 p.m.
Warner Pacific University is off to a solid start for the 2021 season with a 3-1-0 record in non-conference play as it hosts Eastern Oregon University to kick off the CCC schedule. The Mounties wrapped up non-conference play a few weeks ago and are still in search of their first win of the season after going 0-3-0.
