Under Armour Team of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of British Columbia men’s and women’s golf teams have been selected as the “Under Armour Teams of the Week” for Sept. 13-19 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
 
After having to opt out of the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19, the Thunderbirds sent a clear message that they are back and ready to compete for a conference crown. Hosting the first CCC Tournament at Sudden Valley Golf Course in Bellingham, Washington, the women dominated the competition winning by 30 strokes over runner-up Oregon Tech while the men outpaced LCSC by 10 strokes.
 
The men’s team, led by Ethan De Graff, placed first over 54-holes with a 4-over par 868. UBC had four players finish in the top six individually with De Graff winning medalist honors after a playoff with LC’s Devon Caruso and teammate JP Kahlert. All three entered the playoff with identical even par scores after three rounds of play.
 
 The women’s team posted a team score of 617. Emily Li, a freshman making her collegiate debut, was the medalist for the Thunderbirds with a 36-hole eight over par 152.Teammate Sonja Tang was second after carding a 153 after two rounds. UBC held four of the top six spots enroute to the tournament victory.
 
The University of British Columbia will next be in action at the second CCC tournament Sept. 27-28 hosted by Lewis-Clark State College.
