WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following 10 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during the period September 20-26, 2021.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
Lewis-Clark State College’s Jada Wyms was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Wyms, a junior middle blocker from West Haven, Utah, led LC State to a 2-0 weekend to run the winning streak to five matches. She tallied a season-high 18 kills with a .364 attack percentage in the win over Warner Pacific University and added six blocks. Wyms totaled seven more kills at an even better attack percentage of .467 in Saturday's sweep of Mutlnomah University.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Cambree Scott was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Scott, a junior middle from Bend, Ore., came up big at the net for the Mounties, racking up 11 blocks over the weekend. She had seven stuffs at Oregon Tech, with three coming on a solo effort. Scott added 18 kills on the weekend and hit just under .200 at .197, averaging 1.38 blocks per set and 2.25 kills per set.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
Bushnell University’s Makenna Northern was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Northern, a junior setter from Brownsville, Ore., helped the Beacons – who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll – grab a 2-0 weekend. In one of the strongest weekends of her career, Northern tied her own Bushnell single-match record with 58 assists against The Evergreen State College. She averaged 12 assists per set (aps) over the weekend and moved up to No. 18 in the NAIA, averaging 10.23 aps.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Carroll College’s Sarah Conway was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Conway, a junior goalkeeper from Belt, Mont., played over 163 minutes in goal for the Saints making 10 saves to help Carroll pick up two clean sheets over the weekend. She had to make one save in the Saints’ 10-0 victory over Multnomah University and came up big with nine saves to help Carroll defeat Warner Pacific University 3-0.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
College of Idaho’s Sydney Clements was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Clements, a senior forward from Spokane, Wash., scored goals in both of C of I's weekend wins, including a victory over previously unbeaten Corban University. Her goal against Bushnell University proved to be the game-winner as she finished the week with a .800 shots on goal percentage.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Southern Oregon University’s Liam Kalhagen was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Kalhagen,a senior goalkeeper from Camas, Wash., made a career-high six saves to earn the shutout in SOU's 1-0 win over Oregon Tech. It marked his third shutout of the season and the Raiders' seventh-straight win.

Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Warner Pacific University’s Arturo Bahena was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Bahena, a senior forward from Las Vegas, continued his offensive showcase this weekend with four goals against Walla Walla University and another two goals and an assist against Carroll College. In both games, he had the game-winning goals to secure another 2-0 conference weekend for WPU. Bahena raised his goal count for the season to 10 with an average of 1.25 goals per game and jumped four spots to become the conference leader in goals and points.
 
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
Northwest University’s Ellie Calquhoun was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Calquhoun, a senior from Lacey, Wash., finished fifth out of 41 runners at the Ken Garland Classic over the weekend. She crossed the 6K finish line in 23 minutes, 35 seconds.
 
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
Northwest University’s Micah Murphy was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Murphy, a sophomore from Lynnwood, Wash., led the Eagles and took second overall at the Ken Garland Classic. He clocked in at 25 minutes, 40 seconds in the 8K race.
 
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College’s Kristof Panke was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Panke, a freshman from Davenport, Wash., led the Warriors at the Saint Martin’s Invite, finishing 11th out of 66 golfers. He posted a 216 (73-71-72) three-round score.
