Evergreen Scores Two In Home Opener

TUMWATER, Wash. – Men's soccer scored two goals in the first half but that wasn't enough as The Evergreen State College fell to Pacific 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Black Hills High School.

Matthew Jordan was the first to get things going on the scoreboard at 5:41. Gavin McLeroy had the first shot that was blocked but Jordan was right there and hit the ball into the back of the net. That was Jordan's first goal for the season.

Pacific had an answer at 13:24 by Cooper Sheakley and assist from Noah Edward.

Andreas Malunat recorded his first goal on the season and first in a Geoduck uniform at 33:20 and Evergreen took the 2-1 lead into the second half.

The Boxers had an answer at 47:33 by Cade Taniguchi, who followed up on a deflection and Bryce Brown had the game winner at 65:55 with the assist from Joey Musto.

Evergreen recorded 12 shots for the game to Pacific 18. Colin Hauser was back in the net for Evergreen in the first half and had four saves, Tristan Glaser came in for the second half and recorded three saves.

The Geoducks are back in action tomorrow at 7 p.m. to see Linfield. Evergreen will then open Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Sept. 17th against Southern Oregon at 1 p.m. The Geoducks will be back at home on Friday, Sept. 24th against Rocky Mountain at 12:30 p.m.
