Matt Gregg Named Interim Director of Athletics for Warner Pacific University

PORTLAND | Warner Pacific University announced on Tuesday, January 18, that Matt Gregg has been named the Interim Director of Athletics of WPU, effective immediately. Gregg will be stepping into this role following the departure of the previous WPU Director of Athletics, Mike Wilson.

WPU's Vice President of Student Success and Engagement, Dr. Ashlee Spearman, shared her thoughts on Coach Gregg and his current success at Warner Pacific, along with the expectations for him during the time of his interim AD status.

"Matthew Gregg is a highly respected colleague and seasoned professional across the Pacific Northwest. He brings over 14 years as a Coach, and Assistant Director of Athletics. I look forward to continuing to work with Coach Gregg as he brings ideas and strategy to the Knights Athletic program," Dr. Spearman stated.

"I also want to thank Michael Wilson for all his years of service at Warner Pacific University, and wish him well," Dr. Spearman concluded.

Gregg has served Warner Pacific the past 14 years as both the Assistant Director of Athletics, as well as the Women's Basketball Head Coach. In these roles, Matt has worked tirelessly with Warner Pacific faculty to help engage and encourage student athletes in their academic affairs, on top of his usual day-to-day duties of assisting students with athletic eligibility and athletic facilities management.

Warner Pacific University will begin a nationwide search by the WPU Search Committee to fill the Director of Athletics position.
