CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Bushnell University women’s basketball team has been named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Jan. 24-30 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The Beacons secured a berth in the CCC post season-tournament with two hard fought road wins at Eastern Oregon University and The College of Idaho to earn the weekly accolade.
Morgan McKinney led a balanced attack against league leading Eastern Oregon in a 73-70 win. The victory completed a regular season sweep for BU against the Mountaineers. McKinney tallied a game high 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. As a team the Beacons shot 46% from the floor.
With a 13-point lead after three quarters the Beacons withstood a furious comeback from by the Yotes to hold on for the 60-56 win. McKinney again led Bushnell with 14 points, seven rebounds and a game-high three steals. It was only the second road sweep of EOU and C of I in program history.
Bushnell (14-10, 8-8 CCC) will next be in action hosting Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon on Feb. 4-5.
