CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Southern Oregon University men’s soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Oct. 17-23, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The unranked Raiders went 2-0 on the week to sit in fourth place in the CCC standings with an 8-3 conference mark and move to 11-5 overall.
On Friday, SOU saw its top goal-scorers each get involved in a 3-1 victory over Bushnell University. Alan Gaytan and Sam Walker banked a goal and an assist apiece, and Adrian Villegas accounted for the other score.
The next day, the Raiders upset No. 23-ranked Corban University on its senior game with a 1-0 victory. Evan Norconk provided the late heroics with a goal in the 78
th minute, while Anthony Armenta made six saves to secure his fourth clean sheet.
SOU, which has won eight of its last nine games, has two games left in the regular season, hosting Multnomah University on Friday and No. 20-ranked Warner Pacific University the following day.
