CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women’s soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Oct. 24-30, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The unranked Mounties went 2-0 on the week to close out the regular season, outscoring their opponents 5-0.
EOU opened the weekend with a 4-0 victory over The Evergreen State College with four different Mounties scoring in the contest: Megan Gustafson, Carly Imes, Brooke Snyder and Baylee Shewchuk.
The next day, EOU took on CCC Regular-Season Champion Northwest University – which is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll – and handed the Eagles their first and only CCC loss of the year. Kana Mateaki scored the game-winner for the Mounties.
Madeline Barker finished with four saves in goal to help the Mounties grab back-to-back shutouts.
EOU picked up the fourth seed in the CCC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, which kicks off on Nov. 7 in Springfield, Ore. The Mounties will face No. 5 seed Corban University in the first round at 2 p.m. Pacific.
